By nature, man has the need to represent, by any means, the context of what he sees. In such representation of images, there is implied a promise of permanence against time. These images take on the role of memory files. To create these memory files, man has used a variety of tools for “time detention”, such as painting, photography, and film, among others. Consequently, each of those tools/disciplines has created its own formal registries. Although each discipline has certain formal registries, the relationship between painting and photography is closely linked. The dialogue between these disciplines has been solidified, although they each have different strengths and characteristics. The concept of this project relies precisely in these differences. Therefore, this project seeks to dismantle the formal and traditional readings of these disciplines, generating tension and distension points in the dialog between painting and photography.
